The 39 Clues

Hi guys,

Well this is my first post on l.o.w and its about a book, well i don't know if you'd call it a book because its also a world wide game called THE 39 CLUES

Its about two kids called AMY and DAN cahill.

When your grandma dies would you take 1 million dollars that she left for you or go on a challenge? to find out more go to www.the39clues.com

Here is a part that i found funny in the 2nd chapter:

"Dan Cahill thought he had the most annoying big sister on the planet. And that was before she set fire to two million dollars."

A blog of her own!

Well Miss Meg has been requesting a blog of her very own!!

I am quite happy to oblige with this. However, we talked abouty the commitment level required to have "your own blog" and the need to post regularly. That it is in fact quite a big job to maintain a blog and continue to write and share information with your readers.

So we came to an agreement. To begin with Meg will post regularly on our homeschooling blog. So this space is for her and her alone.

I said i would only do the introduction :) Which i have now done. So goodbye and i hand-over to Miss Meg to share her thoughts with you

Olympics

Meg has been enthralled by the Olympics. She has eagerly awaited their beginning, collecting her Olympic guide and marking all the events she wanted to watch.
She also stayed up very very late watching the opening ceremony and ended up sleeping downstairs in the lounge on her home-made bed.

She was only 2 years old when the Olympics were held in Sydney and the torch came through our town. There are photos of her on that particular day, but she does not remember it.

Her favourite events have been the swimming, beach volley ball and soccer. She would like to play soccer, but alas no soccer here. We would have to drive at least half an hour :(

She has also really enjoyed the gymnastics, which she would also like to do. Again a half hour drive for this too. One of the disadvantages of living in a small rural town.

Children as Authors

At Meg's school each year they have a project called "Children as Authors".
It is organised by Libby who runs the Marc Library van which visits small rural schools in the region.

The children are invited to write and illustrate their own stories and submit them.
Winners are selected from each grade.

Meg wrote a story called and we thought you might like to read it!

"Dragon Runes ~An epic adventure begins "

TUESDAY: I was outside and I found a piece of paper it read- “what does that say?” I said to myself. K.f.something.m” “Hi Meg” ”Hi Alex” Alex is my cousin and a really good friend.” what is that?” Alex said looking at the paper.” I don’t know, I found it on the ground, but I don’t know what it says” “ turn it over maybe there Is something on the other side” I turned the piece of paper over “ whoa” said Alex. His eyes widened. “It’s a map, but for where?” I said “how am I supposed to know!” said Alex. “ I am going to my dads this weekend I will ask him”

FRIDAY: “Dad”, I called. “Yes, Meg?” said my dad as he was reading the local paper, “I found this piece of paper, do you know what it says?” I asked. “Come,” said Dad “Come, how do you know that?” I said. “It is dragon script, Meg” Dad replied, “I would be careful if you have dragons living near your house”.
“But dragons are NOT real” I said.
“What you can not see you should believe, Meg” Dad said.

SATURDAY: I was out side putting the bins out when I saw this-
She Zheng wang dong li pa
“DAD” I yelled “what is it Meg?”
“Th, Th, Th, this” I said pointing to the dirt “ what does it say? Said dad “she Zheng wang dong li pa” vhoooooo
“Woe, dad” “don’t be scared” “scared! Don’t be scared sure I’m fine” “really?” said dad “NO, of course I’m scared, I cant see you”
“Ok, it is a invisibility spell just say it again” said dad “she Zheng wang dong li pa” oooooohv “arr dad” I said. “Meg, they want you” said dad “what?” I replied confused.
“The dragons they are back” Dad said

Ch:2 Dragoness

“Meg there is someth….” “Scrackrrra” thud I was pushed to the ground “dad, help” I said. Big thick claws pierced my skin I could fell blood slowly dripping out. “Help” I said again dad ran inside to get something. “Play” I said as I threw a stick. The big thing jumped off me and ran to get the stick, “dad, come quick” I could here dads foot steps coming closer.
“Dragon” said dad as he walked towards me. “That’s a dragon?” I exclaimed. “Yes a EUROPEAN DRAGON”, said dad.
“Cool”, I mumbled as I walked slowly up to him.“Dragoness RRRRRrrrreee” the dragon said.
“Dragoness is it’s name” I said.
“Well done” said Dad, “There is something I want to tell you though. I am the Dragon Keeper”
“What’s a dragon Keeper?” I asked
“A dragon Keeper is someone that trains, cares for and keeps dragons” Dad answered. “Right now what about that map Meg?”
“Yes, we should take it to the library, they might know something about it” I answered.

SUNDAY: “Hello, how may I help you” Julie the lady at the library desk asked.“Hi we were wondering if you have any books on dragons?” I replied.
“Yes, follow me please” Julie answered. We walked into the room with Julie, there were books everywhere. After showing us the location Julie left us to look. “Try and find a book on dragon maps” I said to Dad. “Look, I found it” Dad shouted. It was a big olive green book, covered in dust. On the front it said “DRAGONS” maps and secrets and on the back it said “edaM ni 2004. “How can we read there mumble jumble writing?” I said in a squeaky tone. “Only the power of the dragon tooth can restore the magic of the map” Dad read. “But what does it say on the back?” I asked. “Made in 4002, there happy?” Dad replied.
“Oh, it’s written backwards” I said.
We borrowed the book and headed home.

Ch:3 The Tooth

“Mum, do you know anything about the dragon tooth?” I asked.
“What?” Mum replied almost knocking the soup off the stove, “the dragon too……th, Yes, I know what you are talking about” Mum continued putting the ? down on the stove
“Come and sit down, we can talk about it” Mum said.
She began:
“When your father and I were kids about your age, the family reunion was at Polly McQuinns. My cousins were swimming and your Dad was there with his family. I went for a swim, but when I got to the middle I was pulled down, down to the bottom by a huge object. If your Dad wasn’t there to hear my scream, you probably would not be asking me this question” said Mum “I have something for you”.
Mum went up stairs and came down with a brown box.

“You were looking for this?” Mum asked. “Yes, the dragon tooth” I answered. “I need to call Dad”
“Hello Dad, I have the tooth” I said
“Great, get the map and I will meet you at the park” Dad replied.
“Okay” I answered.
We arrived at the park about 30minutes later.
“Right” Dad said “Let’s find out where this map is for”

Watch out for Book 2 ~ Dragon Town

We will add her illustrations when she gets her story back! Incidently, she won for her grade :)
